According to the announcement, the human ethics review committee (“HREC”) in Australia approved the trial, which is titled “A Phase 1, Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Multiple Ascending Dose Study to Evaluate the Safety and Pharmacokinetics of Lucid-21-302 in Healthy Adult Participants.” A first-in-class, nonimmunomodulatory, neuroprotective compound, Lucid-21-302 offers a unique mechanism of action for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (“MS”). “After much hard work designing this MAD trial, we are thrilled that we have received HREC approval, and the trial can now commence,” said FSD Pharma vice president of scientific and clinical affairs Dr. Andrzej Chruscinski in the press release. “This marks an important step in the clinical development of Lucid-21-302 (Lucid-MS).”
